Permara, Bleijko’s hybrid water-permeable concrete paving block, was selected for this project in Antwerp. In the bicycle parking area, the blocks were laid to create a surface with minimal joints while retaining its water-permeable properties. The joints were filled with fine aggregate, creating a clean and comfortable paved surface that allows rainwater to infiltrate quickly into the subsoil.

Permara combines a high-quality, wear-resistant top layer with a porous base concrete layer. Thanks to the integrated 3 mm spacers, water can easily drain between the blocks. Combined with the fine aggregate, this results in efficient water drainage without compromising stability or appearance. This makes the system particularly suitable for intensive use.

This solution helps reduce surface water flooding and relieves pressure on the sewer system, making it ideally suited to Antwerp’s urban environment. Permara also complies with the applicable standards for urban water management and supports the sustainable, climate-resilient design of public spaces.
